Transcript excerpt
Once, when I was a child, I heard that true beauty blooms, so I decided to plant flowers on my face because my mom said that my sister was the only beautiful one in our family. That night, I nearly suffocated. Thirty years later, I found myself in Paris, broke and with a sick daughter. One day on the street, I saw a sweater that fit like a glove. Excuse me, madame. Your sweater is magnificent. I asked that girl to teach me that knitting better, and knitted myself a piece that no one else in Paris had. Once, at a dinner party, a man approached me. What a beautiful sweater. I want 40 of them for my store. Take my business card. Paris at that time was dreadfully boring. Everyone was already tired of black dresses. I wanted something bright. I needed a color that would scream from across the street. And I got it. I called this color Shocking Pink. You ready? Go. I sent it down the runway. That's how a girl who was told she wasn't pretty no got to decide for herself what was beautiful and what wasn't.
