DIY home renovation journey from @jennaphipps

The creator tells the story of a major DIY home renovation project, recounting how she and her partner found a large quantity of cedar on Marketplace for a fraction of the professional quote. She shows their 16-hour drive to pick it up, the extensive 40-hour process of staining the wood, and the installation on their home's soffit. The video also covers challenges, like a broken foot from a previous attempt with ladders, which led them to rent scaffolding, and concludes by showcasing the beautiful, finished result of their hard work.

Transcript excerpt

We bought a lot of cedar off marketplace a year ago. No last year, we end up driving sixteen hours for the cedar. We found this crazy deal on marketplace, and we just couldn't say no after after we got quoted $33,000 for pretty much the exact same cedar from a local company. And this lot of cedar from this guy's garage was only 3,000. No, obviously, we drove and got it. But what we didn't realize that it was gonna take over forty hours to actually paint all of the better, which we've been doing very slowly. We've been doing, like, six hour days. I don't know how you paint more than six hours in a day. But anyways, we painted enough for the past few weeks that tier able to install it last week and we were able to get so much done with the scaffolding. I don't know if you guys remember last year where we were trying to install it on ladders. We were able to get all the installation up, but then Nick broke his foot best moving one of the ladders. No, yeah. We decided to invest in renting some scaffolding this year. And I was so impressed because basically in three days, we were able to get one third of the soffits up, and it looks just incredible.
