First and foremost, you should be reading in pairs. That means pairing a fiction with nonfiction book. This is extremely important because a lot of nonfiction pieces dive deeper into themes explored in your fictional books. But if that overwhelms you, you can always go to more academic research or articles online. There are two great book clubs that are currently doing this pair reading. One of them is study hall, which dives deeper into classics with nonfiction. And the other one is my own, the international chapter, which we explore literary fiction with articles, documentaries. Did anyone watch two films a month that are outside side of your typical genre? I'm specifically talking about documentaries and international films. It's the whole concept that if you're only eating one cuisine a day, you don't really understand what good food is.
