Sales negotiation tips while fishing from @wkr_rchrdsn

The creator, while fly fishing, explains a sales negotiation technique called 'price poke' to avoid scaring off customers. He provides a detailed script for how to tentatively suggest a price range (e.g., '$300s-$400s') to gauge the customer's budget, then explains how to interpret their response—either confirming the deal if they agree or understanding their actual budget if they counter-offer—to move the negotiation forward effectively.

Transcript excerpt

Anytime you're doing any sort of negotiation on the phone, the worst thing ever is when you drop a price or a number and they hang up or they leave. You don't want that. So how do you avoid that? Well, my favorite trick is to price poke. Alright. Let's say you're selling something at a monthly price. You can go up to them and say, well, I don't wanna get ahead of myself, but if we can get you approved, which would be awesome, I might be able to get you all the way down to 400, maybe even into the 3 hundreds a month. I mean, if I could get you all the way down there, would that be a win for you? And, she goes, oh, heavens. Yes. That would be amazing. Then you got yourself a winner. And if she goes, it might have to be like $2.50. Well, now no know now you know what ball game you're playing and, you can step into her park or let tier know off the gate. This might not be for you. Either way, you're doing a whole lot of good for yourself.
