Transcript excerpt

Have you ever thought to yourself, can a complete beginner with no swimming, no biking, or no running experience complete a half Ironman? Well, I'm about to figure that out with only ten weeks training. You see, getting into shape has been a goal of mine for four years in a row. Four years in a row, I failed. So when it was already late February rank I'd done jack shit to fix that, I decided the only way my ass was getting into shape was by throwing myself in the deep end. At the start, I was doing 20 sessions in the pool, running a ten minute mile, and I couldn't sit on the bike for more than forty five minutes. I made one commitment, session, and it's worse. Kind of. Eight weeks later, I've swum 3,000 yards in a single session, run two half marathons, biked more than 50 miles separately. In less than two weeks, I have to put it all together, 70.3 miles, back to back to back. So to truly answer the question, can a beginner complete a half Ironman with ten weeks training? Race day is May 9, so you'll have to follow along and find out.
