The cult of New Era. Every hat you see on an MLB field, NFL sideline, or NBA draft, New Era makes them all. New Era was founded in 1920 by German immigrant, Erhard Good, in Buffalo, New York. Then in 1934, his son, Harold, made the first professional baseball cap for the Cleveland Indians. But by the nineteen fifties, New Era was the only independent hatmaker supplying MLB teams. Then in 1954, Harold created the 5950. It should also be noted that this silhouette hasn't changed in seventy years.
