Vulnerable monologue on choosing a partner from @jrp.co

The speaker, a 36-year-old single man, directly addresses the camera to correct the misconception that he doesn't want to get married. He passionately describes his desire for a deep, committed partnership and a family, explaining that his high standards are not about chasing perfection but about understanding the profound importance of choosing a life partner. He contrasts the life-altering impact of a right versus wrong partner and concludes by advocating for patience over settling, framing the choice of a spouse as the single most important decision in life.

Transcript excerpt

I'm 36 years old, single income, no kids, and every time I say that, people think that that means I don't wanna be married. I absolutely want to be married. I want the most beautiful nuclear family that you could ever imagine. I want a wife that I would walk through hell with because I know she would be by my side no matter what. But my standards are incredibly, incredibly high. And it's not because I am chasing perfection. It is because I have learned that the biggest decision you will ever make in your entire life is not what career you are going to choose. It is not choosing what city you are going to live in. The biggest and most important decision that you will ever make in your entire life is who you are going to spend the rest of your life with. The wrong person can turn your home into a battlefield, and the right person can make the hardest years of your life something enjoyable, peaceful, and worth growing through. I would rather spend a few extra years waiting than spending decades wishing that I had waited a few extra years. Some things in life are worth refusing to rush. And the person you are choosing to build a life with is at the very top of that list.
