Founder origin story with photos from @discipledesignedleather
The creator, while hand-stitching a leather item in his workshop, narrates the origin story of Louis Vuitton. He uses historical images and paintings as B-roll to illustrate Vuitton's birth, his arduous journey to Paris as a teenager, his 17-year apprenticeship as a trunk maker, and his eventual success, including becoming the personal trunk maker for the Empress of France. The creator highlights Vuitton's key innovation of creating flat, stackable trunks to adapt to new forms of travel like trains, contrasting them with the old rounded-top trunks, and concludes by briefly acknowledging and skipping over the company's controversial history during WWII.

Transcript excerpt
Louis Vuitton was born in 1821 in Anquet, France, a small village nestled in the Jura Mountains. At 13 to 14 years old, he left home and traveled on foot alone, 292 miles to Paris. He worked odd jobs along the way to eat and survive, and he ended up, at 16 years old, arriving in Paris and working for a master trunk maker as an apprentice for seventeen years. By 1853, his reputation was so established that the empress of France at the time, the wife of Napoleon the third, hired him as her personal trunk maker. In 1854, he opened his own shop. He looked at a world shifting from stagecoach travel to trains and ocean liners and redesigned the trunk entirely. Traditional trunks were made with rounded dome lids to shed water during stagecoach travel. He reinvented them to be flat and made of lightweight waterproof canvas that he invented himself no that they could be lighter and stackable. He was an innovator. He was solving problems that no one else at the time could see. We're gonna skip over a lot of the history of the company of Louis Vuitton simply for the sake of brevity of this video. I will say that the Nazi aligned period of history of this company has been well documented rank
