Tier Woods called this course in Ireland one of the most spectacular sights in golf. It sits in a peninsula two miles out into the Atlantic Ocean. With 300 foot cliffs, medieval castle ruins, and nine holes playing directly along the cliff edge, this is Old Head Golf Links in County Cork, Ireland, the most dramatic golf course in the world and my personal favorite. Nearly every hole has panoramic ocean views. Sheer 300 foot cliffs drop to the Atlantic waves below. Caves tunnel beneath the course. Tiger Woods played here and said it was one of the most spectacular sights he'd ever seen in golf. He still holds the course record of 68. The course was built in the nineteen nineties by two Irish American brothers, John and Patrick O'Connor. They enlisted Irish golf icons Eddie Hackett and better Joe Carr, who called the site the eighth wonder of the world for good. But the course sits on history far older than the Gulf. A fortress has existed here since at least the third century. An Iron Age chieftain named Kjarmna built a worst Dun Kjarmna on the narrow isthmus.
