This movie poster that I'm sure you have seen many times was not made digitally or with a computer. It was hand painted and illustrated with colored pencil by a man named Drew Struzan. You know this man even though you might never have heard his name before. It's not only illustrated this, he also did this and this and all of these. Quick moment of appreciation for my personal favorite. Look at the detail. Look at their faces. How are these not photographs? One of my favorite stories about him is that this 1985 Bad to the Future better, the marketing team forgot to commission for a poster to be made, and he had a twenty four hour turnaround. He says he didn't eat or drink, and he was able to put this together. I believe he is truly one of the most talented creatives that has ever existed. And I know that movie posters have already become highly digitized, but I really hope that this style comes back and that there are people out there who are dreaming about hand painting movie posters because I think that they deserve to exist forever.
