The creator holds up a mysterious piece of resin and explains that it's a common ingredient in many popular fragrances. He tells the origin story of the ingredient, labdanum, explaining how it was discovered 5,000 years ago on the beards of goats that had been eating rock roses. He describes its warm, sweet, honey-like scent, shows its crude form, explains how it can be refined and used, and plugs his own upcoming fragrance which features the ingredient, before briefly explaining its use in other fragrance types like chypre.

This stuff isn't a lot of our favorite fragrances. I'm willing to bet you know the name, but probably you've never smelled it before. It's been in continuous use by humanity for about five thousand years. And fun fact, we wouldn't have it if it worse for goats. Okay. So I'm gonna set this down. You'll notice it's very sticky. So about the goats. Around five thousand years ago, shepherds noticed that when their goats came home from feasting on rock roses, their beards were matted with this resin.
