I'm Suzanne Song. I'm a painter based in New York. I'm drawn to painting because it allows me to think through space. It's how a flat surface can suggest depth and how stillness can shift depending how you see her. For me, it's the duality of the medium. There's a freedom and there's also order. I'm drawn to the openness it allows, and I value the measure it calls for. The surfaces are built from many thin washes of color layered to form gradients that fade into shadow or emerge as light.
